One of us accidentally cut down a lighthouse! Please don't tell anyone!

Hello!

The 8th of July, group leaders Tauri and Triin took a volunteer and myself to a harbour, where all of us (13 people in total) took a boat to Rammu. After the lovely ride, we brought the tools to the house some of us slept in (most of the others slept in tents).

The job consisted in cutting down juniper trees, planted here (and other islands) by the soviets in the 80's for timber wood. Issue is the soil is not fitting them, and are therefore not useful. Moreover, they can block light for other plant species, and their needles changes the acidic nature of the soil. After cutting them, we would burn them.

During our breaks, we went into a walk on the beach (finding garbage brought by the sea, as well as animals’ bones). We went to a sauna, built by the owner of the house we slept in (many of us slept outside in tents), visited a local cemetery, and climbed the lighthouse attached to the house.

We also helped move the owner's wood stock to a closer shed, forming a chain. I tried to count the logs as they went by, but I stopped, as they were over 9000! Some of us drank wine on top of it the last day, while watching sunset.

We had a beautiful view of the island on the lighthouse (hum...).

On the last evening, the owner took us on his boat and gave us a ride, before getting his net back, as well as the fish caught with it (the same night he cooked us said fish, it was really tasty). We went back home on the 12th.

No lighthouse was harmed during the shooting of the talgud.
