Just arrived to Estonia and ready for the first adventure. Rammu island is a 1km² piece of land located at the Northern coast, next to Tallin. This island, as well as others nearby, was planted with pines during Soviet times. In this particular place, it grows a unique habitat of crowberries (Empetrum nigrum) that needs to be preserved.

This is my “top 5” list to be remembered from this very first experience:

  • A Baltic sea too cold even for the locals :)
  • Wonderful sunsets from the lighthouse (at 11 pm, just crazy for a Mediterrean person!)
  • Children and grown people involved in the same activities, everybody can participate!
  • Estonian people are nice and calm but really passionated when playing board games (even though when I cannot get a word!)
  • Removing little pines could be a tiring but satisfactory activity.
